Place : The English Department
Location – Kenilworth Building , Bandra West , Mumbai
11th January 2017
Being well versed with TED at Malad , I was really looking forward to opening of their very recent outlet in Bandra. The English Department has maintained the similar look and feel aaand the menu at Bandra outlet. Its housed on the second floor of the Kenilworth Building on Linking Road. ( The same building as TBSE ) Very English in its look and feel with walls adorned with Royal images and Bar made to look like London Bridge , It has got quite a few interesting elements. Here’s what I had at the launch party of The English Department , Bandra .
Veg & Chicken Bruschettas , Hakka Noodles ,Veg Biryani , Chicken Pizza , Baby Corn & Paneer Chilly , BBQ Cottage Cheese and Red Velvet Cake.
My take regarding on food was a mixed bag.
Some dishes were really average such as Baby Corn And Paneer Chilly and BBQ Cottage Cheese. Average in terms of baby corn not being crunchy enough and Cottage Cheese being too chewy and absolute lack of flavour.
However , some dishes were really delicious such as Chicken Bruschettas with well baked chicken and fresh base of bread. Chicken Pizza – Minimal yet one of the best dishes with right amount of toppings ( Onions , Pepper , Chicken and Cheese ) and a very thin crust.
Hakka Noodles – Comfort food. No add on spices and no drama. Just what I need after my drinks.
Along with food I had Kiwi Martini that was made decent but could have been made better.
Red Velvet Cheese Cake that came as a part of the desert platter was also satisfactory.
This is simply what I experienced at launch. I’m sure there is loads more to try from their menu in my next visit. Looking forward.
