Dining in December

Finally wrapping my head around the fact that this year is getting over and we have the #holiday season just around the corner! This means catching up with friends, family, and loved ones for a hearty meal.

So here I am, compiling my list of top 10 picks for Dining in December in Mumbai. Some of these are classics and some are fairly new. Most of them serve continental food. Do let me know in the comments if any of these are among your favourites.

1.     Silver Beach Café, Juhu

Cuisine: Continental and Italian

Although there are other outlets in the city, this #Juhu café remains one of my favorites. A cozy little pet-friendly place close to Juhu Beach is a must-visit this winter season. Whether you choose the morning time to bask in some daylight or plan to go for dinner to enjoy the coziness of this place, you are guaranteed a good time. The service is always on point. The music is never loud, which makes it an ideal place for a meal.

P.S. Their breakfast menu is quite good too.

Recommended Drinks – Sangria, Bellini

Recommended Food – Arugula Citrus Salad, Farmers Burger, Peri Peri Churros Fries, Ravioli

2.     Eve Powai

Food – Multicuisine

Now, this is a mixed affair. Serving pretty much everything from North Indian food to Sushi, this place in #Powai has won people’s hearts since its opening. If you are a regular on Instagram, there is a tiny possibility that you’ve missed their pictures of the gorgeous staircase and pretty décor.

It's perfect for a date or even a family meal. The music gets louder as time passes in the evening though.

Recommended Drinks – Elderflower Twist, South Side

Recommended Food – Wok Tossed Tofu and Black Bean, Three cheese broccoli tikka, Pesto Pizza, Blue pea rice with Thai curry.

3.     Toit Lower Parel

Cuisine: Pub grub

A favorite of mine as I am a craft beer lover (read good beer lover)! I have lost count of how many times I have been to this place. Of course, a heaven for #craft beer fanatics, it is equally liked by others for its food and the fact that it is reasonably priced.

P.S. They do not take table reservations. So you have no choice but to wait. Also, the place has an amazing vibe on weekends.

Recommended Drinks – Just go for the Beer Tasting Kit and choose what you like. But my personal favs are Tin Tin Toit - A Belgian style fruity Ale and Toit Weiss – A Bavarian wheat Ale

Recommended Food – BBQ Madras Mushrooms, Beer Battered Onion Rings, Okra Podi Chips, Aubergine and Spinach Pizza, Pesto Roasted Veg, Mushroom Chettinad.

Tucked in the lanes of the industrial estate, this café has a character. And if the beautiful deep green vintage car at the entrance doesn’t whisper the charm to you, I do not know what else will! It has exceptional décor elements that fit in beautifully with its theme. The staff is impressionable, knowledgeable, and quick. Not just the menu, but the plated food that arrives on your table is sure to leave you mesmerized. Won’t deny that it is heavy on the pocket.

Highly recommend their cocktails

A Soho House’s Italian specialty restaurant, Cecconi's is undoubtedly admired worldwide. This sea-facing restaurant in Juhu offers some of the best sea views of the locality and the open structure lets you enjoy the breezy day sipping on your glass of wine. The staff here is impeccable.

You might end up spotting a celebrity or two here.

8.     Café Noir, Lower Parel

Cuisine: French and Continental

This place is sheer beauty! A small cozy #French café in the lanes of Lower Parel, this place is known for its small but interesting menu serving French Casual Cuisine. The food here is delicious and is a piece of art! Their #Parisian Breakfast Combo is a hit among the foodies. Although a small restaurant, it works perfectly for a long conversation with a lovely meal followed by a cup of tea! The mirrors across the wall make it look bigger than it is and it gives it a pretty #vintage look too.

P.S. - My friend who is a hard-core non-vegetarian could not stop raving about the confit duck here.

Recommended Drinks – Sangria and any Gin Cocktails.

9.     1522 Café and Bar Chakala

Cuisine – Multicuisine

Housed inside #Goldfinch Hotel, 1522 Bar & Kitchen is a cool place to hang out. They have a decent alfresco seating. The décor will remind you of Socials or any similar urban set up. I have visited this place a few times and it’s been quite consistent. The staff is very attentive. Slightly on the higher side when it comes to pricing but the food and drinks both are very well made. We have tried a few dishes off their menu as below.

Recommended Drinks – Miami LIIT, Russian Sangria, Elderflower and Rosemary infused G&T, Martinis

Recommended Food – Gunpowder Potato, Trio of shots, Curry Leaf Mushroom, Shetty Ghee Roast, Himalayan Spiced Mushrooms.
