Biryani ! One word is just enough to elevate our sense of hunger. How about an entire food festivals being dedicated to Biryanis ? And what if I tell you these amazing biryanis are paired with yummilicious Kebabs ? Mouth watering isn’t it ?
Peninsula Grand Hotel is currently hosting Kebabs and Biryani Festival to satiate the hunger pangs of us Mumbaikars.
It will be hosted till 3rd of December ( Very few days left )
We were invited by Peninsula Grand to review the food offered in the fest. My foodie friends and I went there to have our share of food.
They have designed a special menu which comprises of –
Dahi Ke Kebabs , Lotus Stem (Murar) Kebabs for Veg Specialities. However based on my previous experience at Penninsula Grand they specialize in Non Vegetarian food. So for Non Veg Kebabs they have a good variety that covers Jhinga Baluchi ( Prawn Preparion ) Murgh Anarkali ( Pomegranate laced chicken kebab) , Raan E Shikandari ( Entire Lamb Leg Marinated in spices and Tandoor Cooked )
What we had
Paneer Bhuna Kebab– (4)
Paneer just the way I like it. Soft and flavours amazingly marinated and as the name suggests Bhuna ( Roasted ) flavours. A pesto lathered kebabs were served with assorted chutneys.
Moroccan Squid – (3)
This could have been better if the squid was properly cooked. But the texture of squid spoilt it for us. Filling was of minced lamb and it was marinated in Harissa spice.
Chicken Appelow – (5)
This had to be the best of the kebabs. Chicken legs stuffed with Chicken Liver and Shrimp ( both minced and spiced ) slowly roasted over charcoal.
Along with our Kebabs we had some Mocktails. Out of three one was good , one was average and one was simply bad ! Shirley Temple and Blue cooler to be avoided. They look very appealing. I’d rather suggest skip that
3 Treasure Biryani – (5)
This foodgasmic biryani was a rose petal flavored chicken (Couldn’t tell if it really had rose flavor) With long grain fragrant basmati rice. It was cooked in a Puff pastry case. I won’t write much. The picture will do the needful.
Overall, Go for what they recommend. Turns out decent. Portions are sufficient too. They need to also work on presenting dishes. All Kebabs were presented in the similar manner.
