Khyber is one of the iconic restaurants in the city. Located at Fort- Kala Ghoda it boasts a culinary popularity for its Mughlai Food for more than six decades!

We went there on an invite. This was my second visit, almost after a decade.

Popular among celebrities, HNIs and Expats for its food, Khyber takes you through a journey. The layout of the place reminds you of a peshawari cave/ fort-ish structure with its stone walls and rustic look. The art pieces on the walls are also very antique. Once you enter you know, it IS a premium, fine dine restaurant afterall.

The staff is quite knowledgeable and very well equipped to handle all kinds of guests. They have extensive yet cozy space available on both the ground floor and mezzanine.

Talking about the food, here is what we ate-

Achari Mushroom Kebab. This felt more like - Mushroom Tawa Masala (From appetizers) Delicious nevertheless.

Reshmi Brocolli – Melt in the mouth

Mirch Ka Salan- The quintessential Hyderabadi gravy

Maa Ki Dal and Mirch Ka Salan both lacked flavour. We addressed this to our server as well

Lasooni Palak – This was delicious with a heavy tempering of garlic.

Each dish is valued above INR 550/- + taxes.

I had a laccha Paratha and my friend had a Tandoori Roti as an accompaniment, followed by steamed rice to go with the dal.

On a weekday evening it was full. People were walking in and out and for a throughout the busy evening, the staff was warm amd pleasant.

Verdict

Khyber is predominantly known for its non vegetarian food. Its a premium dining experience. However, the food was a hit & miss for me.

Ambiance: 5/5
