Review: Manasi Bungalow

Location: Gharkul Society, Valvan, Lonavala, Maharashtra 410401

Date: 4-5 Dec 2022

Mumbai being far away from major popular hill stations, we often end up going to #Lonavala as it is the closest to what we can call a Hill Station around Mumbai. And having visited it multiple times over the years, I look for a relaxing stay facility more than a hotel. We had a truly relaxing weekend at one such place called Manasi Bungalow.

Owned by Ms. Manasvi Bhatia, this Two Bedroom Bungalow is tucked away from the hustle bustle of Loanavla town. Surrounded by lush green lawns,it offers peaceful mornings and pleasant nights. The owners being nature lovers, you see many trees and potted plants around that entice many birds.

We were recently invited for a #staycation and here is a detailed experience

As we started a little late on a Saturday afternoon, by the time we reached it was dark ( thanks to shorter winter days)

The room allotted to us was huge with a really high ceiling height. The room can easily sleep four or more people comfortably. The verandah was also nicely done with day beds and cozy seating (where we spent most of our time)

What I liked the most was the small hand picked items that were seen throughout the bungalow such as these cute water kettles, jars, candle holders, tissue holders.

At night, on our request, the staff arranged for a bonfire and later we had a mini thali. This included Dal, Rice, Curd, Papad, Salad and Solkadhi. (For those who do not want a homemade meal they have many options around who deliver to Manasi Bunaglow)

Next day, our morning started with the songs of the birds. While the staff prepared our #breakfast (everything is made to order as per your liking)

We enjoyed basking in the morning sun, sitting in the lawn chairs. We had Poha and Upma along with Masala Chai. Again, the tasteful selection of cutlery and crockery stole my attention at breakfast too.

After a leisurely breakfast, a nap was inevitable.

The nap was followed by some more delicious home cooked food for lunch. We had a Full Thali that included two Sabzi - Bhindi and Aloo Matar, Chapati, Rice, Curd, Dal and Solkadhi along with fresh salad. Most of the vegetables are grown in their own kitchen garden. The cook made us taste a couple of unique chutneys too, which they made inhouse. We liked it so much that we picked some up for home too. (they sell these homemade items which is an incredible cause to encourage homecooks)

In frame - Pineapple pickle and Green Coconut and Peanut Chutney

Here is some more information about the bungalow-

The two bedrooms of the bungalow open into a common seating area that has a TV and Speaker system along with a verandah that has a cabinet full of books. These books are not just for the guests but for the nearby kids as well who wish to come sit and read here.

Another interesting thing is Manasi Bungalow is open for Artists, young entrepreneurs for Retreats/ Workshops. This gives the best flexible work environment amidst nature offering ample space. They have special packages for long stays.

They also have a masseur on call which can be booked with a prior appointment.

Apart from this the owner, Manasvi, told me about quite a few interesting activities / things to do around the bungalow which I was completely unaware of.

Some of these include an Art Walk, Nature Walk, a Visit to Ceramic Studio etc.(the list is really long, trust me!) Manasvi herself is an avid foodie and a traveler. She curates these experiences. This initiative is called #lonavalalocal

Verdict

In a nutshell - Manasi Bungalow felt like a home away from home. The owner takes special care of each and every guests and the same hospitality is imbibed in the staff. Its a pet friendly bungalow which makes it ideal for Family Staycations.
