Place : YOUnion
Location – Kamala Mills, Lower Parel, Mumbai
'Youth has no age' is what it says and I’d have to agree. When we entered YOUnion on a Wednesday evening at 8, there was a mix bunch of corporate people, teenagers and some families. The place suited all.
We went for our #TheTalkingBee invite after a really long time as most of our readers are aware I was on certain dietary restrictions. So this was a pleasant break from the monotony.
Why
Fun Chic place
Amazing shots and cocktails menu
What To Eat – Nariyal Pani Pancotta, Hera Bhara Kebab Candy, Zunka Bhakar Kendra
What To Drink – Cinder-Frickin-rella, Smoking skull Manhattan
YOUnion has opened in the place of Farzi Cafe in Kamala Mills ( next to Radio Mirchi office) Really cool and hip vibe to it. Amazing music. It has country’s largest shots menu serving over 200 types. These are a few things to describe it.
Here is what we had
We tasted some of the dishes from the starters menu. Namely – Chana Koliwada, Stir fried water-chestnut & broccoli, Hara Bhara Kebab Candy, Wild Mushroom Dimsums. and Garlic Cheese & bell pepper flatbread.
Out of which I absolutely loved their Hara Bhara Kebab Candy. It was not at all dry and had a little cheese in it which made it a little gooey and moist. Wild Mushroom Dimsums were also quite great. So was the Garlic Cheese & bell pepper flatbread.
We paired this starters with following cocktails-
Cinder-Frickin-Rella a vanilla vodka cocktail that came in a glass that looked like a sexy pump.
Smoking skull Manhattan – Pineapple and cinnamon bourbon based really potent cocktail
Metropolitan Royalty – Blackcurrant Vodka, Cranberry, Triple Sec and Sparkling wine cocktail
For mains we had Vegan black bean burrito bowl– a complete bowl full of scrumptious meal.
Zhunka bhaker Kendra needs a special mention as its a unique dish you wont find at any bar. Zunka was pretty decent served with Bhakri that looked like a roti to us, but was an interesting version of Bhakri indeed. It was served with green chilies, a bowl of rice and garlic chutney. Here’s a picture.
However, the star of the evening was the desert section.
We tasted Nariyal Pani Panacotta – It had two layers, bottom one was jellylike frozen coconut water and the top layer reminded me of the tender coconut Malai ! The flavours were very refreshing and we couldn’t stop praising it.
Second desert was Caramel Cheese Cake – This was good but could have been slightly softer. But in overall sense it was good.
Verdict :
Go there with your party peeps and you’re sure to have a great time. Overall service was great. Special mention for Shubham who was serving our table.
