The website calls it to be in one of the best locations in McLeod Ganj. It surely is. But Statutory warning. Its for people with a strong heart. Why ? It is about 100 steps down the main road. You don’t realize it when you step down but woah ! when you have to climb up , it’s a task. Especially for city buggers like us, who pay no heed to health and exercise. So, if you think you can manage these 100 steps up and down then absolutely go for it ! ( no regrets )
Why we chose it ? We loved the view it had. It was right in the middle of the market offering best of cafes and eateries around and yet so peaceful and it suited out budget.
Its about 7 yr old Hotel that has some really warm people taking care of its guests.
Managed by Mr. Salman, Originally a Bhopal resident who has also lived in Dubai finally came back to India for personal reasons and decided to settle in the mountains for peace and solitude. He is such a sweet man and so is the staff. You see that in each and every small gesture 😊
Well , we arrived at The Pink House at 5 am in the morning and they did provide us the room immediately. Basic room with the view costed us about 1800 per night. Here is what are room looked like.
It always had 24 hours hot water. Room was clean and tidy. They were always available for anything that we needed.
Sunny terrace that they have now converted into a rooftop café / restaurant is really ideal for hearty breakfast or a lazy evening.

Our breakfast on day 1- An American breakfast costing INR 250
Dinner on day 1 – An Indian Thali that was shared by me and my sister was approx. INR 200.

Apart from this they have a new wing which will be operational within next few months that has super deluxe rooms and family rooms. Family room has two double beds, kitchenette and a personal balcony ( huge )

The entire hotel is done up beautifully by a Swedish / Dutch artist with funky murals and colored glass works. Out of the box restaurant décor and overall feel.
If you happen to go to McLeodgGanj, The Pink House is highly recommended!
