Named after the Samet or Samed trees, #KohSamet is only a three hours drive from #Bangkok and about 15 minutes by speed boat ferry from Ban Phe Pier on the mainland.
The entire island of Koh Samed is an Eco Sensitive Zone as is a forest. Hence there are check posts at different points and visitors are expected to pay a one time entry fees, against which they give you ticket.
Here are top 10 things to do when in Koh Samet
1. Rent a Scooter / Motorbike to roam around the island
This was approx 300 baht per day inclusive of fuel. Having a vehicle made our movement around very easy. Pretty much like Goa, every resort and most tourist attractions have scooter renting options easily available.
2. Relax at the beaches
White sandy beach of Koh Samed are lined with cute beach shacks. We spent our evenings watching the sun go down, swimming in the clean waters.
3. Dinner date at quaint beach of Ao Phai.
This region has the beach on one side and interesting diners and cafes to another side.
Our recommendation would be Avatara Resort's Seaside Cafe
4. Dine at many vegan and vegetarian cafes
Yes, being Thailand, we assume that vegetarian food will be scarce. However, there were many options around. The Office was our favourite pick !
5. Go for Watersports such as scuba dive and parasailing at Sai Kaew
6. Bar hopping
There are many cool bars such as Lido Beach Bar, The Island Bar to name a few. The service is very warm and welcoming and they go out of their way to ensure a good experience.
7. Wake up early for a gorgeous sunrise
Sunrise takes place a little early in Thailand so make sure you get up early to catch a glimpse of a gorgeous sunrise.
8. Visit Khao Laem Ya National Park.
The park is located along the coastal area of the Rangyang Sheriff and the Guanglong Sheriff in Rangyang Province. It is the 3rd national marine park of Thailand. The Park covers the areas on land and in the sea.

Massages here are really very inexpensive and too good for the price you pay !
10.Go on fishing tours.
A slightly expensive experience however worth the price. You can hire a speedboat and the trained locals to accompany you on this fishing adventure where you can get a fresh catch!
