Beaches, History, Food and Football. This pretty much defines the country that is Portugal. Here is a list of 11 must do things from my travel to the country.
1.Take the historically famous TRAM 28 route and visit all the beautiful monuments in Lisbon.
The number 28 #Lisbon tram connects Martim Moniz with Campo Ourique, and passes through the popular tourist districts of Graca, Alfama, Baixa and Estrela. For visitors, this is the classic Lisbon tram journey, riding in a quaint yellow tram as it screeches and rattles through the narrow streets of the city.
2.Enjoy water sports at Algarve region. Some of the best beaches and really serene.
Admire the beauty of the #Algarve coastline as you discover Portugal’s caves and dolphins from #Albufeira. ( We couldn’t spot Dolphins as it was gloomy while we were there)
3.Pub hop till wee hours at some of the coolest nightlife places in Lisbon or Lagos.
The nightlife in #Lagos is quite renowned. The streets get deserted by 7pm but get lively by 10 pm and the parties go on till 6 in the morning. We pub hopped and had the time of our lives.
4.Visit Sandeman Wine Cellar in Porto.
Founded in 1790, #Sandeman is not only famous for its quality wines but also its logo, known as ‘The Sandeman Man‘, created in 1928 to represent the brand. They have guided Wine Cellar Tour followed by wine tasting.
5.Visit Douro Valley
It is listed among best road trips by National Geographic Travel and CNN travel. Also called as an Enchanting Valley , its a ‘World Heritage Site’. It is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. There are quite a few #vineyards. Do visit one and see the wine making process along with wine tasting with a view of #Douro River.
6.Take a river cruise at Douro or from Porto.
7.Football !
Watch a #Football match live at the famous Estádio do Dragão one of the most Iconic Football Stadiums in Europe. We were lucky to catch Home team #FCPorto’s game live in action.
8.Stuff your mounth with Pastel De Nata
Pastel de nata – Portuguese custard tart, is a Portuguese egg tart pastry dusted with cinnamon. You will find them in many small bakeries and patisseries.
9.Visit Beer Museum in Lisbon
One of the most iconic spaces in Lisbon where they celebrate the brewing tradition of all Portuguese-speaking countries
10.Visit Fairytale Pena Palace of Sintra
The castle stands on the top of a hill in the #Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon.
11.Sing a song or two with the local musicians at Alfama
#Alfama is one of Lisbon’s oldest areas, are lined with shops selling traditional crafts and cafes. You will find musicians chilling and singing some melodies who simply make the experience unforgettable.
These are just a few things in the vast country that is #Portugal.
I shall cover Portugal in detail in the upcoming blog post.
Till then Happy Reading 🙂
